A word from our Directors: Summer camps are crucial for youth development, impacting socialization & bond formation. However, traditional camps often reinforce gender and sexuality norms. Camp Pride Tree provides a vital, inclusive space where queer youth in Nevada can be themselves, fostering visibility and safety. Here, they can dance, dress, and express freely, embodying the true spirit of 'camp' in every joyous moment.

PENNY

Penny is an Associate Professor of Sexuality Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies. They have worked in Summer Camps since they were 19 years old with over 15 years of Summer Camp and Outdoor Recreation programming experience. Penny is also a Parent to three young children, and enjoys hiking and rock climbing with their wife and family. Penny will lead and oversee the development, planning, and execution of all camp programs and activities.

DIA

Dia is a Las Vegas native who brings deep experience in youth mentorship, community organizing, and leadership to her role at Camp Pride Tree. At Camp Pride Tree, Dia leads and supports the counselor team while ensuring that every camper feels safe, affirmed, and celebrated. She’s passionate about building spaces where LGBTQ+ youth can thrive. She will also be the main contact for parents and be providing daily updates. Outside of camp, Dia enjoys playing recreational team sports, performing at open mics, volunteering at youth programs, and dancing like nobody’s watching.
