Dear Supporters and Friends,
As the new board president of The Pride Tree Las Vegas, I’ve had the honor of dedicating 2024 to learning the ways we can support young LGBTQIA+ Nevadans. This year has been a journey of reflection, and growth, with a focus on understanding how we can enhance our efforts to uplift and empower our community. Since I’ve joined the board we’ve had a lot of big changes. My hope is to continue with changes that move this organization in a positive direction. I know the work we do here at The Pride Tree to make kids feel safe, seen and valued is more important now more than ever. We are an organization that will continue to prioritize safety, education and growth for LGBTQIA+ youth and help parents, teachers and community members become better allies. Moving forward, we will focus on four major pillars for our programs including gender affirming programs, mental wellness, physical activity, and planning for a bright future through career training and educational connections. One of our proudest accomplishments has been providing an inclusive camp experience to our youth at little to no cost. This initiative, supported by our community, has been transformative for so many young people. As we continue this work, we remain committed to expanding these programs and ensuring every young person has access to a supportive and nurturing environment. However, our work is far from over. The right to exist and thrive as LGBTQIA+ individuals remains under threat, and we must stay vigilant. It is essential that we continue to advocate for our rights and support each other with dignity and equality. As we move into 2025, I invite you to join us in our efforts. Whether through volunteering, sharing your stories, or spreading the word about our programs, your contribution matters. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive community where every young person feels seen, supported, and celebrated. Thank you for your continued support and dedication. Here’s to a future filled with growth, solidarity, and progress. With gratitude, Shelby Parkes Board President, The Pride Tree Las Vegas
